2023 - 2024 Notable Challenges

  • Severe budget constraints curtail collection development activity.
  • Reference and Instruction position eliminated as part of college-wide reduction-in-force.
    • Eliminated position's immediate impact resulted in:
      • The elimination of 22 open hours for the Information Commons and virtual coverage.
      • 1/3 Reduction in student and faculty appointment availability
      • 1/3 Reduction in workshops - especially APA/MLA workshops
      • 37 LibGuides now orphaned will need to be adopted by 2 staff members - this will leave approximately 120 guides for 2 staff. Less used guides may need to be retired - update schedule will become reactive rather than proactive.
